Today is the launch of our brand new book called 99 Fine Motor Ideas for Ages 1 to 5!!! This activity is adapted from one of the awesome activities in the book to show you just how easy it is to use the book with your own kids! The one in the books is a monster while mine goes along with I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly!

Fine Motor Activity for Kids I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly with Free Printable on Lalymom.com - my kids love this song!

I have had the pleasure of perusing our brand new book for about a week now and it is SO inspiring! I love that each activity has huge pictures, a materials list and step by step instructions. What I also liked was that even though each of the authors has kids that are different ages than mine, I could take an idea in the book and adapt it to suit my own kids. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old right now. When I saw an activity in the book called Feeding the Monster from Nicolette at Powerful Mothering, I knew that my 2 year old would love it just the way it was done in the book- a super simple, super cute wipes box monster with a tray of objects to feed it. CUTE!!!

I thought my 4 year old would like it too but I wanted to add some elements to go along with what she is working on in preschool. I used some free clipart from Pixabay and created a free printable (available here) on the Avery Labels website using template 6450. This lined up the images and text in 1 inch circles so that you could print them on Avery 1 inch round labels or print them on paper and cut them with scissors or a 1 inch paper punch like I did. Then I just used glue stick to stick them onto various recycled milk caps and soda lids.

The printable has silly cartoon versions of the animals in the song as well as more lifelike drawings. I added site words and beginning letters so you can further adapt this for your kids! In fact you could skip the lids all together and just cut them out and laminate them too. Whatever you prefer!

I made the Old Lady wipes box just like Nicolette made her monster, which you can get a peek by heading to Amazon to look at the book and click on Look Inside to see images of the book! Speaking of which, I KNOW you are on the edge of your seat for the details about the book, RIGHT!?
