Our house has been LEGO crazy lately. In fact I'm dubbing this the Summer of LEGO. Today I've got some free LEGO printables for you in case you are in the midst of just such a summer! Free LEGO Printable Challenge Cards - Perfect to pack with your LEGO Juniors Suitcase! As the Summer of LEGO gets into full swing here I've been thinking about our upcoming vacation. We're planning to drive somewhere far this year for the first time. We're driving several states away with an overnight stop to break it up. Once we get to our destination, we will be staying at a vacation rental where we will all have bedrooms, a full kitchen, etc. We can spread out and live life just like we can at home. But vacation rentals don't come with toys. What to pack, what to pack? I was just thinking about this upcoming challenge when I got the opportunity to work with LEGO and check out their new line of LEGO JUNIORS Suitcases. We received the LEGO JUNIORS Fire Suitcase and the LEGO JUNIORS Supermarket Suitcase. They are both so cool! Observe below: the pure joy of opening a cool new toy! The Pure Joy of Opening a New Toy- LEGO JUNIORS Supermarket Suitcase LEGO® JUNIORS is designed to give children age 4-7 a great first building experience with the LEGO brick through iconic, fun and easy to build models. This is perfect for us. My kids are right in that beginning LEGO builder stage and these sets provide just the right amount of challenge. The other great thing about the actual suitcase is that you can use it to transport your creations without completely dismantling them.

I think the easy-to-follow assembly directions, plus the excitement of the potential pretend play once they sets were built were both really encouraging for my 5 year old daughter- I mean for heaven's sake the grocery store set came with a KITTY! A KITTY, people!! Eeeee!!! Once the sets were assembled, it was so fun to see all the imagination she used in playing with them. The fire fighters had to go grocery shopping, they had to rescue the kitten from the grocery store roof, and they were great friends with the supermarket staff! Pretend Play With LEGO Juniors Supermarket Suitcase After seeing the suitcases in person, and seeing how engrossed the kids are with them, I knew they would be perfect to pack for our road trip. We are not really going to be building in the car but they will be great to pack with us for travel breaks and to play with during down time at our vacation rental. I could see how they would be super handy for a sleepover at Grandma's house or any other place where you might not have access to other toys. The suitcases fit perfectly into our kids' backpacks and leave room for books and other toys still. I was trying to think of something to compliment the portability of these sets and I thought it would be fun to make us some printable LEGO Challenge Cards. The Challenge Cards can be printed and stowed in your LEGO Juniors Suitcase and used in between all the pretend play with the sets! There are three pages, 2 with printed cards and one with blanks cards so you can make up your own!Free LEGO Printables to Pair with LEGO Juniors Suitcases

  1. This is brilliant! My son is already a master at Lego building, but he gets tired of creating on his own. These cards will be a perfect thing.

  2. That is such a great idea, and brilliant for getting children to think outside the box. I love the game Creationary for that. When you have a limited amount of bricks and a definite target it encourages you to think so much more creatively 🙂

  3. I am a Prep teacher (Qld Australia). I am going to use these in my classroom as a fine motor activity in our rotations. I will be making a lot of my own cards for this.

  4. My children are young adults now, oh the memories of Legos! We love buying them for the younger cousins! Love this idea of the suitcases, don’t know how I’ve missed them, but I see some presents to buy!

  5. Lego challenge cards are a great idea. Playing the equivalent of Pictionary or Rapidough but with Lego is a fun game for adults too. It might brighten up your next dinner party. You are never too old for it!

  6. Sorry to put a downer on this, but I just used to put some of their current Lego into a gallon ziplock bag each when we went on vacations and a couple of lunch boxes for built models that they weren’t quite ready to break up. Surely the transportability of Lego is one of its great qualities! You don’t need to spend money on a special case for it.

(Also not keen on the gender stereotyping of pink cases with grocery stores for girls. What do the blue cases contain??) Isn’t this commercialism at its most rampant? I thought Lego was non gender, non age specific. Lego have reduced themselves to money making and dictating what to build, rather than their original aims of freedom and creativity. Such a shame.
