Tinker Bell Slippers

Today I am sharing a super simple DIY Project to pair with Tinker Bell and Legend of the NeverBeast as part of a shop compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. My 4 year old daughter- excuse me- 4.5 year old daughter (!) is really excited by pretend play and we really enjoy creating costumes and scenes together. Yes I said together. I'm that mom who indulges her and will play right along with her. So will little brother…it's what we do.

She is quite the little director! She is more than willing to provide everyone with a role to play and to set the stage.

Lately, the big obsessions has been princesses and fairies. We are no strangers to Pixie Hollow, and we have seen commercials for Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast.

You can always tell when my daughter is excited because she bounces up and down when she talks, so every time the NeverBeast commercial would come on, you would see Little Miss bouncing around, excitedly telling everyone, “Look, it's the NeverBeast!!”

When this sponsored post opportunity came along I knew it would be perfect for us, but little did I know that my little Director would be the one to come up with a super fun craft!

We headed to Walmart to pick up a copy of Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast and I figured as an extra treat my little pretend play girl would love a Tinker Bell Dress too.

There was a lot of bouncing up at down at this point. 🙂

When we got home she tried on the costume immediately. She was getting ready to watch the DVD with her Tinker Bell doll and she said, “Wait! Mom! Where are the slippers?!” I had no idea what she was talking about but it turns out Tinker Bell wears adorable green slippers with white puff balls on them. So I was told.

Well the costume didn't come with them, I told her. Then, all on her own, she had the sweetest idea.

“Wait- MOM! WHAT IF….we MAKE some!! We could just….tape some cotton balls onto socks that fit my feet!!”

(She literally said that- even the part about fitting her feet. I can't help it, I melted at her excitement and craftiness.)

So we tried taping cotton balls to sock and it was fine for a temporary fix. If you have a pair of green socks and know they will need to be worn for every day use then tape and cotton balls would be perfect.

If your kid will want to wear Tinker Bell Slippers every day at home for weeks after you make them….you might want to try the tutorial below, I promise it's super simple!

Easy Tinker Bell Slippers Tutorial

Materials:

Green ankle or no-show kids socks
Large white pom poms or cotton balls

Hot glue gun & glue sticks

OR

Needle and thread

OR

Scotch tape

Instructions:

Needle and thread: Turn your socks inside out. Hold one pom pom inside the sock aligned where you want it on the sock (center of the foot, about an inch from the toe end of the sock). Run a stitch or two of thread through the sock, through the pom pom and back into the sock. Snip the thread, tie it off inside the sock and turn the sock right side out.

Hot glue: Stuff a crinkled up ball of newspaper or scrap paper into the toe of the green socks. Glue the pom pom onto each toe and allow glue to dry.

Tape: Put the socks onto your child. Fold a loop of tape for each foot, put one on each sock and press the pom pom or cotton ball firmly to the sock.

(Note: If your child decides to tap dance or karate kick repeatedly, cotton balls taped to a sock will start to fray and eventually come off. You can choose to reapply them or try one of the other methods. We found the pom pom sewn to the sock to be the best for us. It meant they would stay on well but we could always snip off the thread and remove the pom pom if we need them for every day use.)
