20 Fine Motor Skills Activities with Clothespins
Today I'm bringing you Fine Motor Skills Activities with Clothespins!

Think about the way you hold a clothespin and you will instantly see how great they are for fine motor skills activities. They utilize those tiny muscles in the thumb and pointer finger which helps prepare little hands for all sorts of tasks – not the least of which is writing! There are affiliate links for your convenience, just FYI.
Something about the way they open and close is so engaging to my kids, they LOVE playing with clothespins! These colorful clothespins are super fun and useful for tons of activities. Here are a few of the SUPER simple ways that we play with clothespins. They are so low-prep that you can set them up in a snap, whether you are trying to get a chore done or sitting in a waiting room.
Clothespins on a Baby Gate – We have a few different types of baby gates in our house, the metal rod kind and the plastic diamond shape kind are in the play area. I like to find ways to use those gates, like using it to hold our ABC Pocket Chart. Clipping clothespins on them is super simple, and with the metal rod kind of gate the kids can also slide the clothespins up and down the gate.
Clothespins and Mega Bloks – Set out some colorful Mega Bloks and some clothespins and show the kids how to clip them on. Bonus points if you have colored clothespins to match the Mega Bloks! We don't, but the regular ones work just as well! Could it get any easier?
Easiest Clothespin Busy Bag EVER – Why YES it CAN get even easier than clothespins and Mega Bloks! Put your clothespins in a zip top bag to store them and when you need something ULTRA quick and easy, show your child how to clip them onto the edge of the bag! Ding! Done!
