Today we’re sharing ways to learn and play with Helicopter Seeds! If you live in a region where maple trees grow you might be familiar with the fan blade shaped seeds they drop, commonly referred to as helicopter seeds. Maybe you like them, or maybe they’re a giant pain. Either way, they are all over…
There is a fabulous monthly series over on Red Ted Art called Kids Get Arty where you are encouraged to view the works of great artists with your kids and find an activity inspired by that art. An easy place to get started looking at art with toddlers is a Russian painter named Wassily Kandinsky. He…
Today we are sharing a super fun animal sounds obstacle course that is easy to set up, and perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners. This can be done in your living room, back yard or even a classroom setting. Half the fun was the stuffed animal scavenger hunt we needed to do before we set…
Today I am talking about the little ways that we work counting into our life every day. It is never too early to start modeling counting and other ways to use numbers! Most of the “academic” type stuff that Ladybug has learned so far has been kind of by accident or because she asked about…

When I was young, around the time that Home Alone came out, I asked my mom if we could go stay at a hotel downtown (in Chicago)Â as my Christmas present. She came with so I wasn’t quite as free as Macaulay Culkin, but we had a blast. We rode in a horse drawn carriage, ate…

We are following along with Jessie’s weekly color themes at Play Create Explore and this week is a good one: Orange! Here are some things we did at our house! Orange Peel StampingI loved Jessie’s Shaving Cream Printing Craft but I am still not “embracing the mess” enough to play with shaving cream! We tried another idea though,…
We have been very lucky when it comes to the sleep habits of our two kids. Ladybug started sleeping for long stretches at night very early on and Little Big Man has been fairly good as well. I have to credit Dr. Weissbluth, the head of our pediatricians office. Yes, that Dr. Weissbluth. He is…

A few days ago I saw the image above posted on facebook by Mommysavers and thought…I wonder if I could do that challenge and teach my toddler about cleaning at the same time? I know your first thought may be, “wow slave labor, how classy!” But hear me out! My idea was more about doing something together every…
We are following along with Jessie over at Play Create Explore for her weekly color explorations. This week is Black. Jessie really found some awesome activities, oodles of them actually! I have to say this was pretty challenging for me. We don’t have a ton of black toys or food and Ladybug was sick so we didn’t…
